The revitalised hospital in Albany was designed to give people of the local community access to vital medical services and reduce the need for patient transfers.
The Health Campus is a state-of-the-art facility that includes a comprehensive provision of services, including an emergency department and high dependency unit, two inpatient units, maternity ward, inpatient and community mental health, ambulatory care (chemotherapy, renal dialysis, allied health and specialist clinics), surgical services centre, medical imaging, pathology, pharmacy, morgue, entry/admissions, medical records, administration and medical offices, food and linen services, supply and stores, central energy plant.
Our approach was to create a design and staging solution that adhered to the project brief’s requirements and offered greater adaptability for future growth. It minimised the whole of life costs through the considered selection of materials and equipment. Of course, the existing hospital had to maintain its operations throughout, and the development of the new campus facilities had a minimal impact on the community accessing the necessary care.
Hunt Architects are currently designing and developing the new radiation and oncology unit.
